Good morning, Kirsten here with the canvas I made for the Imagination Crafts' shows on Hochanda on Sunday. This was the first time I'd made samples for Imagination's TV shows so I was somewhat nervous, but I had a great time using the news Mixed Media stencils, Structure Paste & Mixed Media Ink Sprays. Incredibly - & wonderfully! - virtually all the products we had on the shows sold out, so I can't include links for most of what I have to show you here. We will be getting more soon & we'll let you know as soon as they're available.
On to my canvas (from the
Canvas & Art-Cutz set on Hochanda)..............
I began my canvas by applying Structure Paste through the MM crackle stencil. The great thing about the Structure Paste - apart from the great dimension - is that it dries very quickly. I left the canvas in front of the heater for about ten minutes & the paste was dry, allowing me to apply more paste through the MM circles stencil..................
(Excuse the light in these photos, it was another gray day when I took them)
Once the paste was dry I began adding colour. I used Pebble Shore MDF paint, firstly with a brush, then with baby wipes. I wanted the centre of the canvas almost colour-free, so I removed most of the paint from there, blending it out to the edges.............
The next layer was Diamond Starlights, applied through the MM broken lines stencil, then White Gold Starlights through the MM circles stencil & the MM crackle stencil...............
If you're familiar with Starlights Metallic Paints, you know how quickly they dry, so I was able to do all these steps very quickly, one after the other. I applied Black Starlights through the smaller circles & dots of the MM circles stencil & added dots of Pearl.............
When I put the Structure Paste onto the canvas I also applied it through the
Peacock Feather stencil onto black card. When the paste was dry I replaced the stencil & used a stencil brush to cover the paste with
White Gold &
Diamond Starlights, then I cut out the feather.
Time to finish the canvas............
I had an idea of what I wanted, so it was just a question of moving the elements around until I was happy. I die cut about six frames from label dies in my stash & glued them together. I painted a scrap of card with
Pebble Shore MDF paint, then applied
Black Starlights through the MM letters stencil & used an inch punch to punch them out.............
Then I found the little bird in my stash, painted it with Black Starlights & applied a tiny dot of Inca Gold Alchemy Wax to the wings.
I glued everything down & the final step was
French Lavender Alchemy Wax applied with my finger to the raised areas around the edges of the canvas.........................
I was pleased with how this project turned out, I hope you like it too. I'll be back with some more of the samples I made for the Hochanda shows soon. If you missed them you can watch them on
Hochanda's catch up service for the rest of this week.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
