Time and Motion

Good Morning Crafters

We hope that you have all had a wonderful Christmas and that we only have a few days left of 2014.

It sure has been a very busy year at Imagination Crafts and looking forward to seeing what 2015 bring us.

Today we are sharing another of our new design team members tutorial.
Marleen has made a beautiful steampunk card.

Products used for this project are:

Other Products used are:
White card stock
Blue card stock
Sentiment stamps (from personal stash)
Distress ink.
Tools.

Materials:
Card stock
sparkle medium
Tools

Start by putting a big blob of sparkle medium onto a scraper and spreading it out

Then smear it over the card stock, trying to get an even coat.
To enable the white card to show through only give it a thin coat.
A thicker coat can be applied if desired, drying time just takes longer.

Once sparkle medium was dry, cut out glittered patch and put it through a big shot with a couple of cog dies. (please note that a thicker coat may not go through your die cutting machine as easy, so please take care if trying out this technique)

And VOILA.. Glittered cogs MADE!!

Marleen has found that this way of making glittered embellishments really easy, and by doing this, means that all her dies have now gotten another lease of life.
Think glittered butterflies or swirls?? Or glittered siluhettes???
This definitely wont be a last time Marleen will do this :-)

Now onto the rest of Marleen's project...
Using the Black Star Sparkle medium and the Time & Elements stencil.
Once sparkle medium was dry distress with weathered wood distress ink and layered up with cogs and sentiment.

Different views of the card.

Isn't this a beautiful steampunk card?

We do hope that you have enjoyed seeing Marleen's first tutorial and will leave a comment.

Thank you for visiting today!!

Inkadinks and Wax Technique

Good Morning Crafters

Well we hope you all had a lovely Christmas.

Today we are sharing a YouTube from Samantha K showing a technique using inkadinks and wax.

First of all here is a picture of her creation and a brief description as described by Samantha.

Inkadinks
Clematis Decoupage Stamp Set

I was feeling very summery when i made this, plus the Inkadinks are very spring/summer colours that I used

I have used the Inkadinks as a watercolour paint to very roughly paint the flower and leaves, I purposely didn't stay in the lines, as the whole effect is meant to look quite artsy and bleed into each other. The idea is also to demonstrate a way of colouring the stamped images without having to be a great painter or great with markers.

I then dried everything off, added wax over the coloured areas, again not being to fussy and then used a different colour wash all over, dabbing any excess ink of the wax areas that had acted like a resist.

The effect left is one where the over colour has in places seeped into the initial colour, leaving a gorgeous colour blend, that some people may find difficult to do if they were just using paint on paint as everything can just become a little muddy.

Enjoy the rest of the festive season!

A Blossom Girl Canvas

Good Morning Crafters

Today we have a beautiful canvas tutorial by Shilpa. This is Shilpa's first tutorial and we are looking forward to seeing more of her fabulous creations.

We hope you will welcome Shilpa to the team.

Attach design papers to the edges of thick white chipboard randomly.
Apply a thin layer of Gesso and leave to dry.

Place the Beautiful Blossom stencil and use a brown watercolour pencil trace the face of the image.
Using watercolour inks colour the image.

Once image is dry place the beautiful blossom stencil back over the image and stencil the blossom with Gunmetal Sparkle Medium.
Using watercolour ink add colour around the design papers.

Once everything is dry decide on the colours you wish to use for your embellishments.
An array of assorted flowers, die cut leaves, butterflies and birds have been used.

The finished project. Don't you think this is gorgeous, I know I do!

Pretty in Pink

Good Morning Crafters

Today we are sharing another of our new DT members Samantha Wade tutorial

Please do hop on over to Samantha's blog to see some more of her work.

Pink Blossoms card.
Floral Tea Cup Stencil.
Sparkle Medium, Sage Green, Old Rose, Antique Bronze, Chartreuse.

Using low tac masking tape, attach stencil to the patterned card and apply Sparkle Medium with a palette knife. Brown to the birds, the green to the leaves, old rose(which is so perfect with the card) to the other areas, remove stencil and leave to dry.

When dry, reapply the stencil and add the chartreuse to the birds chests, and go over any areas you want to add colour to, using a brush for small areas and a piece of cut and dry to smooth over larger areas.

When dry and happy with the colours add flowers and cheese cloth, glue the pearls and gems.

Mat the patterned card onto pink glitter card, then onto a 7x7 card

That is it for Today, we hope you enjoy your weekend.

Create your own tags with Inkadinks

Good Morning Crafters

Inkadinks
Fuchsia Decoupage Stamp Set
Orchid Stencil
Black Sparkle Medium

Wet some water-colour paper and drop yellow, orange and red ink onto the surface. Keep dropping on ink until the surface is covered.

Drop some purple ink in blobs onto the wet paper and allow to spread naturally. Top tip - you can manipulate the inks by tipping the paper a little.

Stamp the small branch from the Fuchsia Decoupage Stamp set around the edges with brown ink.

Using the Orchid Stencil and Black Sparkle Medium add the image onto the top of the background.

Finish your tag by inking the edges with brown ink.
