Creating with the NEW Sparkle Medium Colours, part one

Hello, Kirsten here. I hope you're well. I found some time to try out our new Sparkle Medium colours & I thought I would share my projects with you in a few blog posts. Firstly, the colours really are as gorgeous as they seem & the sparkle is incredible.  I first put all eight new colours through the new large & medium/small poinsettia stencils, from the set recently featured in our Hochanda shows, on to card I'd painted with Mediterranean Sky Starlights & I just loved them all, could not pick a favourite.

I used Blue Lagoon, Silver Dollar & Crushed Bilberry SM on my first project...........

I wanted quick & easy backgrounds so masterboards were the way to go. I began by spraying Light Blue & Light Purple Mixed Media Spray Inks on to a piece of 12x12 white card, spritzing with water, adding more inks, then splatters of Silver Starlights loosened with water & more water. At this stage you could leave the card to dry by itself, dry it with a heat tool, or take another piece of white card, lay it on top of the first & create a second masterboard, which is what I did..............

(Apologies for the artificial light in these next few photos, it was a horrible grey day when I did these....)

Once the cards were dry - I left them for about 30 minutes near a warm radiator - I started to add chalk paint through stencils. First, Cornflower through one of our new Mixed Media Art stencils; MA27..............

Next, Baltic Blue through the large poinsettia stencil & the small poinsettia from the Medium/Small Poinsettia stencil..................

Silver Starlights through the MM Art stencil MU17 & splatters of Pearl Starlights...........

I used the same stencils on the second piece of card, but reversed the order of the chalk paint................

(Photo taken the next day, slightly better light this time...........)

With masterboards, you can keep going & add more layers of stencilling, stamping etc., I decided these were finished & it was time to start using them.

I removed the outside petals of the large poinsettias, shaped all three layers with a ball-ended embossing tool & used wet glue to stick the layers together. I painted pieces of Art-Cutz with
white chalk paint, then applied Diamond Sparkle Medium with my fingers..................

I cut a tag & stamped the word 'joy', (from my stash), on to it in blue ink & distressed the edges of the tag slightly. for the matting layers I painted the borders of white card with Silver Gold & Sax Blue Starlights - perfect matches for the Blue Lagoon & Silver Dollar Sparkle Medium...........
